Personal Instructional Design Statement:

Instructional Design is a systematic process that includes planning, designing, developing, implementing, and monitoring instruction, education, and training. The major misconception of Instructional Design is that the foundation of Instructional Design is technology, when the foundation of Instructional Design is really innovation. All reputable Instructional Design theories and methods begin with planning stages that can be done with pencil and paper and acknowledge that neglecting and/or not providing adequate attention to these “less tech” focused planning stages will negatively affect the outcome of projects. A good Instructional Designer not only understands theories and how to utilize authoring tools, but also understands the importance and connection between UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience).

As an Instructional Design professional seeking a managerial position, I understand the importance of innovating current content with the intent to promote information retention and efficiency, effectiveness, and independence with context to learning, while avoiding the ineffective process of “Knowledge Dumping”.
